Since its inception in 2001 the Alliance has grown to be Scotland's largest single species angling group, developing effective representation within local and national bodies.
In the face of the political changes in Scotland, due to devolution in 1999, the future of angling related legislation by the Scottish Executive, in combination with other relevant factors relative to pike angling in Scotland, a Scottish based pike angling organisation is seen as the future for our sport.
The Pike Anglers Alliance has the firm belief that fisheries legislation, management and conservation policies must be developed in a manner that deals with all species in an even handed manner. Substantial gaps in the structures and statutory controls, presently existing and how they are operated continue to give cause for concern. Pike angling interests have little in the way of an effective voice in most of the management structures currently in place.
In the short term, it is our intention to seek wherever possible to work with existing fisheries management bodies and other relevant organizations, to represent the interests of pike and pike angling, seeking to ensure that fisheries management decisions are made on sound scientific grounds .In the long term, new legislative and administrative framework for fish conservation and fisheries management, which covers all Scotland and encompasses all species, is required. We will work together with all other interested parties to achieve this, and in particular with the
Scottish Federation for Coarse Angling, Scottish coarse anglings governing body. A by product of this mission is that by demonstrating to such bodies our professionalism, integrity and commitment, fishing currently not available for pike angling, can, in the fullness of time, be made available to the membership. To do this we need YOUR help, support us, so that we may support you!
